Sunday Afternoon

Went for a walk around the neighborhood today.

Fallen Leaves.
The afternoon light was very bright on the leaves so I knocked down the compensation on the camera 1 1/2 stops.

Quite a few ducks are spending the winter in the river bed.

The white cranes are here all year long.
The top image is using a normal shutter speed as determined by the AI in the camera which results in a freezing of the water. Below, using a slower (1/30th of second) shutter speed, much more movement is captured.

Winter

Some wintery shots from my trip to see my family in Canada over the holidays.

Since direct flights from Osaka to Vancouver had been cut; we had to fly to Tokyo first. On the way, I happened to look out of the window at the right time and realize we were just about to pass Mt. Fuji.

Once in Quesnel, my hometown, we were treated to a not quite common amount of snow frozen to the trees which made for some nice shots.

The sun through some fog frosted poplar trees.
